What is the largest tire I can put on my 17" X 8" Aluminum wheels?

I am looking to get the largest tire on my rims without rubbing. I looked at some 35 X 12.5 LT's

If your truck is stock, 285/70r17. Most 12.5s will rub on stock offset.

How wide you can go on a 8” wheel is completely dependent on the size of the tire. The more sidewall, the wider the range of wheel widths will be. There’s no one size fits all answer.

285/70r17 (about 11.5” wide) are listed as good for 7.5-9” wide wheels.

255/80r17 are actually narrower then stock (265/70r17 is the stock size) so that argument is void anyways. And at 33” tall you should have no clearance issues at all.

Huh? Power wagons come from the factory with 285’s and 8” wide wheels.

I have ran 12.5” wide tires on 7-8” wide wheels many many times over the years. Never once had and issue.
