Huh. Well, i dont use the adaptive cruise much so cant really comment on its performance. But, cant you just use it as a normal cruise control, and then when it starts “adapting” to the slower cars just shut it off like you would have to with normal cruise?
Actually its just a pian when it gets behind slower traffic and then when you go to pass in left lanes the car behind you in left get the brakes put from my vehicles cruise. Most of the time I just run without it .....It would have been a deal breaker for the trade had I knew it before I traded. My 2023 had both and I got very used to it as the 2025 Mustang has both. I just turn the trucks off......Thank my lucky stars the Hellcat does not have adaptive CC.

Yes…just use the one on the right side.
The one in the photo on the righr side is the only one for CC. The button to left of that button only allows the distance you want the adaptive to set between you and the other vehicles in front of you. Or at least thats how mine works.....I have it set to closest distance possible.

I wish my dad would've given me a truck at 16. Do you need a half ton? Good reason to step up to 2500/3500 or even downsize to a ramkota.

Yes thats all correct....but there is no seperate button for non adaptive cc. like in the 2023 Larimie and there is no way to have a non adaptive CC on my 2025. They deleted that option on the 2025 model Tungsten trim level.

On my 2026 big horn, the location of the green button is for regular cruise control. The red button is for adaptive cruise control.

I think the reason we decided to do it is that we know the history of it, my truck is our go to vehicle, and we have 135K on this one. So time to get me a new one for our main vehicle.

But will admit I had not planned to give him a truck this nice at 16. But looking back on it, it is the same age as the 79 Camaro I got when I turned 16. Both 8 years old, but the truck is probably nicer...lol.

My first vehicle I bought at the age of 16 with my hard earned $$ was a old 1960 GMC 1/2 ton with V6, as far as auto insurance never had any until I was 22

That’s not correct. Your red circled button is the adaptive cruise control button, as it always has been since 2019.
The green circled button is hands free/active driving assist. On a truck not equipped with hands free driving, that green circled button would be switched out with the regular cruise control button.
So, there is no way to have regular cruise control on a hands free driving equipped truck like the one in your picture.

Thanks for the info. I am not in a hurry currently, have until October when he turns 16.

This is my daily driver, our family trip truck, and it gets used to pick up mulch, landscaping, DIY materials for stuff around the house.
Hurricane over the e-torque

If you can wait, buy a 2027 Hurricane.
Every year there will be improvements.

That is 100% correct. Let me again say the only thing I really despise on the newer Trucks last two years. There is no way or work around to get the regular cruise back per the dealer.):
