so I’ve decided I’m going to install a 3/4” rear spacer to get a slight rake back since installing bilstein’s at 2.1”. My purpose for this post is to find out what I’m getting into. I already purchased TGC spacer poly. Not sure if install would be any different for the steel spacer. So what tools am I looking at for this job? Is there any drilling or taping that will be necessary to hold this new spacer in place? Thanks In advance. I saw a write up on the install but none of the pictures provided would load for whatever reason.

If it’s the 3/4” poly spacer it just goes under the coil, no drilling or anything required.

Do steel ones require drilling? I’m contemplating on going with the steel.

I have the steel 3/4" spacer from TGC, and it goes on top of the spring. No drilling required.

I have the 3/4'' TGC spacer as well. Install was pretty easy. Just need basic tools/sockets. My only advice is to make sure you have the body of the truck as high up as you can get it before dropping the rear end. I actually had everything apart and couldn't get the springs back into place with the spacers installed. Had to reinstall everything and then jack the truck up higher and put blocks under my jack stands. Also make sure you disconnect the brake line hanger before lowering the rear.

I have Bilsteins at 2.1 and a 3/4'' spacer also. Its a great look!

Maybe a dumb question, but it's the install any easier with the poly on the bottom vs the steel on top of the spring? Any ride difference or noise difference?

I can do both rears with poly in about 20 minutes with out removing anything . With stock shocks you may have to undo the bottom to get enough space . I zip a pair of spring compressors on a spring a little ways and Jack up the frame in front of the rear tire till I can pick up the spring enough to slide the spacer in. Lower the truck and undo the compressors , done . Bilsteins are a little longer shock than the OE so I unbolt nothing.

I have the same set up, except my Bils are set at 2.8. Looks great, may get the itch to do 1.5” spacers instead. Or I may add the airlift 1000 airbags. e6ff4b4339c03c989747a71789dfcdd5.jpg

Bils 2.8 + 1.5” billet spacer rear w/ Airlift1000HD

In the first pic, I am loaded down with about 800-900lbs of Pool cleaning equipment and my airbags are at 25psi.

Rear end only dropped about 3/4” with that load. Airbags and rear spacer are a must for me!

I have the Bils set at 2.8 so I am thinking a 1" would suffice? Looks like most did a 1.5 with the 2.8

I had a 3/4 rear on my old setup and it was damn near level. I went with 1.5 on my new one cause I haul 500-800lbs of equipment on a regular basis (also have airlift1000hd).

Here is 2.8 with 3/4 rear and 295/70r18 on my old White RAM.

Then, the Granite Crystal is my new RAM setup with 2.8 with 1.5 rear and 295/60r20.

Not to thread jack, but I've got never mounted 3/4" TGC spacers for sale. Went with the 1.5" Icon springs instead.

Interested in your impressions of the ICON 1.5's... am considering this over spacers if I decide to go 1.5 on the rear.

Definitely an improvement over stock ride wise, but it could be also because I replaced the rear shocks with bils. Haven't hauled anything in the bed over 500lbs yet though.

Yeah I have bils on the rear as well... I have empty bed a lot of the time so thinking that upgraded coils would prob ride better than spacers. So no issues with 1.5" on the 5100 rears then I take it?
